This is a very good question, as there are numerous cloud computing companies out there and by it’s very nature many cloud companies across the globe will be trying to sell you their cloud claiming that geographic location no longer matters when it comes to the Cloud. So you’ll have everyone from the US to Australia to China offering you Cloud services.
But is that really true? Does it really matter where your data is if it is in the Cloud? Well it’s not just about where your data is, its more about the level of support you will get. Very simple things like time zones play a part in getting what you really need. Again many cloud companies will offer 24/7 support, but is their technical talent really available 24/7 or are you getting a call centre?
Don’t just be lead by the price, you only pay for what you get. Many Cloud companies have their ‘lost leaders’ by way of very cheap storage and resources often priced by the minute, this is just to get you through the door and to buy and then all the extras start adding up. Once you’re all set up its a real pain to start moving away and that’s when the extra costs start being piled on. Make sure you know exactly what you’re getting for your money.
So less of the negative stuff, there are some great cloud computing companies out there, here are a few we came across:
